First off we would like to thank The Collings Foundation for this great opportunity to share in our nations history.

We have been blessed here in Northern Colorado the last few years with the hard work and dedication of Rob Pehkonen to bring this all together every year. This presents a unique chance for people to get up and close with history.

Not often do you get a chance to see these great aircraft from our past, yet alone get up close to them. The Collings Foundation gives everyone this ability. You are able to actually take a tour of the aircraft they bring here. However, this is not a normal hurry up and move along tour. You have the ability to actually climb inside of each of the aircraft (minus the P-51), play with the mounted guns, sit in the seats of the crews and get a real sense of what it was like to be in one of these magnificent aircraft. Not only can you take a tour of the aircraft, they offer the public to fly in them as well (including the P-51). The rates vary on the prices but, it is well worth the experience. view prices here. For the last two years we have been able to witness the B-17 "Nine O Nine", B-24 “WITCHCRAFT”, P-51 “Betty Jane” and the B-25 "Tondelayo". This year we did not get the B-25 unfortunately hopefully it will make the trip again in 2010.

IN addition to the planes our local event has gotten together with a local car club. This has given them the ability for an added bonus for the public to view cars from the same era all in one location.

Another added bonus to having this event is the chance to meet some of the veterans who served during this time of the worlds history. This is something to see as some of them are laughing while yet others are very humble and solemn at the events. However, they all have a great story to tell and are willing to share it with you. There is a great pride and honor in this generation. And this is evident with every story they tell.
